Church Centre

St. Margaret's Church Centre is a warm and welcoming space, which serves both the Church and its surrounding local community. There are many activities happening within the centre which you can get involved with. The church centre is also available for hire (both for regular hiring or for special occasions).

The centre has a variety of multi-purpose solutions depending upon your needs (see below for further details). Why not pop into the Church Centre Office and we can show you around to different options available. The Church Office is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays. 

 

THE MAIN HALL

The main hall is a large space with a sprung dance floor. It can be used for a wide variety of activities.

This includes use of the carpark, kitchen & toilet facilities. 

Capacity: Approx 120 - 130 people (depending on seating format).

 

THE SMALL HALL

The small hall is a bright and airy, multifunctional space.

This includes use of the carpark, kitchen & toilet facilities. 

Capacity: Approx 40 people

 

THE LOUNGE

The lounge is a cosy, carpeted space with tables and chairs. There is also sliding hatch-access to the kitchen. 

This includes use of the carpark, kitchen & toilet facilities. 

Capacity: Approx 24 people.

 

FOYER

The bright foyer space, with its high vaulted ceiling and magnificent view of St. Margaret's Church Tower & Spire, is a welcoming space with tables and chairs.

The Parish Office can also be located within the foyer.

 

COMMUNAL FACILITIES

The Church Centre is located in the grounds of St. Margaret's beautiful churchyard. There is an ample, free carpark with allocated disabled spaces and the Church Centre is disabled-friendly throughout, including the toilet facilities. 

We are delighted to be able to extend our gratitude to the National Lottery "Awards for All" who have funded new chairs for the main hall, small hall and entrance area, new curtains, a P.A. system and new lighting in the Large Hall.  Also to WREN Landfill grant scheme for funding new flooring in the entrance area, new toilets, zoning the heating so each area can be heated separately and refurbishing the sprung wooden floor in the Large Hall. 

There is a well proportioned kitchen, which is well equipped with two cookers (one gas and one electric), a fridge, two sinks and an electric water boiler (funded by the National Lottery). There is good worktop space (funded by the WREN Landfill Grant Scheme). There is also white crockery, cutlery and glasses avaiable to use and is a practical space for preparing tea & coffee, light bites and even catering for a four course meal (with the large hall accomodating 96 people for a sit down meal).

All hire charges listed below are quoted at a HOURLY rate:

MAIN HALL:   Single Booking £40.00  /  Regular Booking £20.00

SMALL HALL:   Single Booking £34.00  /  Regular Booking £17.00

LOUNGE:   Single Booking £26.00  /  Regular Booking £13.00

WHOLE CENTRE:   Single Booking £100.00  /  Regular Booking £50.00

In addition there is a £50 deposit which is required for birthday party bookings. This is refunded in full provided that the centre is left clean and tidy and subject to any breakages (other than fair wear and tear).

 

FOR BOOKING THE CHURCH FOR CONCERTS ETC.

A non-refundable deposit of £50 is charged for each booking

The cost for the use of the church is £50 (the deposit) plus the hourly rate as shown below, which is charged from the arrival of the first person associated with the booking until the departure of the last person. It is not just a charge for the actual event.

Winter (includes heating)

£50 for the first hour

£35 for each subsequent hour

Summer (excludes heating)

£25 for the first hour

£20 for each subsequent hour

Where a “winter booking” does not require or use heating, then the summer rates will be applicable.

Where a winter booking uses heating for part of the booking then the winter rates will be applicable for that period and the summer rates for the period when the church is not heated.

In addition, hirers using the organ or piano can have the option of having it tuned, for which the cost will be passed on.

Please note: The use of the Church Centre facilities is not included in the above costs.
