'Our heritage'appeal

Thank you to everybody who contributed to our appeal.

We raised just nover £21,000 in total which was a wonderful effort.

However, sadly, we were unsuccessful in two applications to the Heritage Lottery Funding due in part to the closure of the scheme for Places of Worship and (we are informed) less money being available for projects. Further, we now find ourselves with an account that is facing monthly bank charges.

The Church Council agreed that our ideal was a full new heating system in the church with a new boiler and new radiators. Sadly we couldn't afford this; a contribution was made from the Heritage Appeal Fund to the pew heaters which were installed last year.

After taking out the cost of necessary architect fees, the remaining monies (a little over £11,000) are being spent on repairing the stonework around the clerestory windows. The other part of the application had been to do all this work along the south wall of the church together with rendering the walls inside; now we shall be doing as much as we can on the outside to preserve the building.

So thank you if you contributed. Should you wish to make a last minute contribution (every penny raised will now be going to do the work on the windows, and to do them all we do still need more funding) then please make cheques payable to "St Margaret's PCC" and send them to 147 Hollingsworth Road, Lowestoft.

Thank you for your support.
