Our pattern for Sunday evenings is:

First Sunday evening in the month:          Holy Communion with hymns

This will be a less formal service than our Sunday morning service, centred around our nave Altar. It will include a short address focussing on the readings or an aspect of the service.

Second Sunday evening in the month:   Choral Evensong

Here the Psalm, the Magnificat and the Nunc Dinittis are all sung to a musical setting by our choir. They will also sing an anthem. Our worship is through letting the choral music flow over us and around us. There will be a short explanation of the readings at the start of the service.

Third Sunday evening in the month:        A Musical Service

This could be a "Songs of Praise" where the hymns are chosen and introduced by members of our congregation. It may include a personal testimony too. We may have a whole service singing some of the traditional hymns for that time of year - for example we only sing the harvest hymns one Sunday a year, so Sing Harvest is an opportunity to sing them again! Alternatives to this include our Annual Carol Service in December.

Fourth Sunday evening in the month:        Sung Evensong

In this service the congregation join in singing the Psalms, Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, all set to Anglican chant.

Fifth Sunday evening in the month:        Taize worship

Where there is a fifth Sunday in the month, we shall gather around a cross. Our music will be Taize chants and through the repetitive singing of these chants we are brought closer to God. the service also includes readings and a time of prayer.

On a few special occasions in the year, these services may be superceded by another service, for example our Annual Memorial Service which takes place annually towards the end of October.
